Safety tips
Before you pay
- Meet in a busy public place, like a shopping mall or near a police station, during the day.
- Check the item properly before paying. For phones, check the IMEI (*#06#) and that it isn't locked to an account.
- For vehicles, check the CR at the RMV and that the seller is the registered owner.
- Never send an advance payment, eZ Cash or bank transfer to someone you haven't met.
Spot a scam
- The price is far below the market price, and the seller is in a hurry.
- They ask you to continue on WhatsApp straight away, or send a link to "pay" or "receive money".
- They ask for a login code, OTP or card PIN. Visvash will never ask for these.
- They say they are abroad and will send the item by courier after you pay.
If something goes wrong
- Use Report on the listing or profile, and Block in chat.
- For fraud, contact Sri Lanka Police (119) or the CID cybercrime unit, and keep the chat as evidence.
